Volunteer Youth Navigator

Time Commitment: 3–4 hours/week (flexible)
Location: Primarily in Marysville with travel throughout Snohomish County as needed.

Overview:
Volunteer Youth Navigators play a vital role in supporting high-risk and homeless youth ages 13–17 as they work toward stability and independence. Navigators act as consistent, trusted adults who help youth navigate systems, identify goals, and stay connected to essential resources. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about equity, advocacy, and direct youth support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with youth in the program
  • Attend school meetings, court appointments, medical visits, and other critical engagements to serve as an advocate and source of support
  • Assist youth in goal setting and tracking progress in areas such as education, housing, employment, and wellness
  • Collaborate with TEEN Network staff to provide updates on youth progress, challenges, and emerging needs
  • Support communication between youth and service providers, schools, or guardians
  • Provide marketing or outreach support to help connect youth and families to the program (e.g., distributing flyers, attending community events)
  • Uphold program policies around youth safety, confidentiality, and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications:

  • Pass a background check and adhere to all child safety policies
  • Calm and flexible in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Trauma-informed or willing to learn trauma-informed practices
  • Able to follow shelter policies, uphold confidentiality, and model respectful communication
  • Willing to complete program orientation and any required safety or behavioral trainings

Harris House Shelter Support Volunteer

Time Commitment: 2–5 hour shifts; afternoons or evenings starting in the late fall

 Location: Harris House Shelter – Gold Bar, WA

Overview:
Shelter Support Volunteers are essential to maintaining a welcoming, structured, and supportive environment at Harris House, a temporary shelter for high-risk and homeless youth ages 13–17. Volunteers work closely with staff to help ensure youth feel safe, respected, and cared for during their stay. This is a hands-on role ideal for compassionate, reliable individuals who want to make a direct difference in the lives of vulnerable teens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hospitality & Meal Support
    Assist with preparing, plating, and serving meals or snacks; clean up kitchen or dining areas afterward; sit with youth during meals to encourage conversation and connection.
  • Environment & Organization
    Help maintain a clean, organized, and youth-friendly space by assisting with donations, restocking supplies, and tidying common areas.
  • Engagement & Enrichment
    Participate in or lead age-appropriate group activities such as art projects, board games, journaling sessions, or outdoor recreation that foster connection and promote positive peer interactions.
  • Positive Adult Presence
    Provide consistent adult supervision and serve as a calm, supportive role model. Support youth in adhering to shelter routines and expectations while maintaining compassionate boundaries.

Development & Fundraising Support Volunteer

Time Commitment: 4 hours a month (flexible; remote and in-person options available)
Location: Hybrid – with remote meetings once a month

Overview:
The Development & Fundraising Support Volunteer plays a key behind-the-scenes role in building and sustaining the infrastructure that powers our mission. This volunteer helps lay the foundation for strong donor relationships, organized fundraising campaigns, and effective outreach. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication or administrative skills and a passion for helping youth-focused nonprofits grow sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help prepare donor acknowledgment letters, thank-you notes, and recognition materials
  • Support the creation of newsletters, campaign emails, and social media updates related to fundraising or events
  • Research potential grants, donors, or in-kind support opportunities
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting fundraising events (virtual or in-person)
  • Help track in-kind and financial donations for reporting and impact storytelling
  • Collaborate with the Director or Development Chair to build systems that streamline future fundraising

     

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and basic office or design tools (or willing to learn)
  • Interest in fundraising, nonprofit development, or community engagement
  • Respect for confidentiality when handling donor information
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively
  • Willing to complete an orientation and participate in check-in meetings as needed
